Anonymous for Good - The Movement

Anonymous is by far one of the most controversial and intriguing movements to hit the Internet since the Internet’s creation. They have done a lot of good, but as conservatives we also recognize that they have done a whole lot of bad. So the question is, is it time for Anonymous to be replaced?

More After the Break

Anonymous is a group of hackers that troll the Internet and seek to impose their own brand of justice on whoever they are able to target and whoever they see fit. In other words they are vigilantes with no purpose other than spreading havoc and chaos. Perhaps no better example of this can be seen than when Anonymous attempted to protect and disseminate highly classified intelligence regarding United States covert activities around the world, putting the lives of several United States national defense personnel at risk.

Not only that, but their message of, "We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us." is bone chilling. Since it invokes the image of the demons inside of the wild man, right before Jesus casts them out of the man (Matt 8:28-34). It should be noted that the nature of these demons made the wild man violent and without purpose.

Something that Anonymous also ascribes to, for as one member put it, "We [Anonymous] just happen to be a group of people on the Internet who need — just kind of an outlet to do as we wish, that we wouldn't be able to do in regular society. ...That's more or less the point of it. Do as you wish. ... There's a common phrase: 'we are doing it for the lulz.'" In other words, this group is made up of a bunch of cretins that just want to do whatever they want without restrictions and consequences.

As conservatives we know that his is a recipe for disaster. That the spread of chaos and vigilantism is the greatest sign of a civilization in decline and the beginnings of the last signs before collapse.

With that in mind Glenn Beck created Anonymous for Good. Now, no matter what you might think about Glenn Beck, one should judge this movement by how it describes itself, "we are goodness, we are random acts of kindness, we are everywhere, expect us." Clearly, not only in direct contrast with Anonymous' self description of a group out to seek vengeance and perpetrate violence as they see fit; but to adhere to and promote the ideas of goodness and service to one another in society. So, just because you may disagree with Glenn Beck, to not side with Anonymous for Good over Anonymous is in my opinion, disappointing, to say the least.

In other words, I do believe that now is the time to replace and abandon Anonymous and join forces with Anonymous for Good.
